so it seems like recently tumblr had changed what its allowing on the website, and there was a big thing about it online. it's been about 4-5 years now since the porn purge and many people had assumed tumblr to be dead.
but it's not. it's very much alive. people still very actively post on the site.

one thing i noticed is the overall vibe on tumblr has changed. the once normally quiet-hostile-and-passive-aggressiveness seems to have died down considerably, and it feels like all the people causing those issues have since moved to twitter. has anyone noticed just how horrid it is to be on twitter in just the past few years? hint hint.
of course that's just my own theory, haha.
anyway i have still been posting on tumblr myself, sporadically of course. i have also deleted every tumblr post on my main blog however. seeing as i've really changed as a person and with the nature of the internet to dig through people's shit for ammunition, i thought it was time to purge that pretty much. not out of fear of people trying to cancel me, but more just i would not like to be reminded of how i used to be.
i'm different now! that person isn't really me anymore! if you liked that person, you're weird!
you get the picture, haha.
i will say, i'm glad tumblr won't be changing too gradually with this new update to their ToS. i quite like the asexual haven that tumblr has turned into since 2018.
honestly i realize i have such a nostalgia for some of the stuff on tumblr i went as far as to immortalize something i liked from tumblr here. if you look at my avatar on the right side of the page, it's an image i took from the blog called shibaconfessions. few people may know it as the blog that accidently spawned the doge meme, and maybe even helped the notice-me-senpai stuff as well. it was a very popular blog for a while for people to react to at the time.
here's a few examples i have from my HDD:

look! they made a reference to this one shiba inu puppy stream that was popular in 2013. remember that? i was surprised when i was watching nickelodean at the time and this one somewhat-niche-now cartoon called "the mighty B" even referenced it in one episode. i think that was one of the earliest acknowledgements of live streaming on TV!
i definately miss the stupid, somewhat tumblr relevant humor on the blog. often times it even reflected the admin(s) actual interests or even just stuff they personally thought was funny. that is a touch i definately miss with online humor.
a lot of people don't know this as well, but much of the images hosted there didn't really use the doge meme format. i think after awhile, the admin(s) running it realized it was getting stale because the meme was just hitting off and decided not to do it nearly as much in the future. but i remember even then they weren't doing it nearly as much to begin with.
anyway, enough rambling. point is, tumblr is very much alive. i think recently there was even some meme format of people reacting to things online as if they were dracula, like the character from the book. i guess book readers use it as a platform now? i think that's really unique.
